Babel templates on the Karalapak Wikipedia

These is the Babel information of Atabek. He is active on both translatewiki.net and on the Karakalpak Wikipedia.

The Karakalpak Wikipedia is a young one and, Atabek is apparantly of the opinion that providing information about his language skills is important. He imported the templates that are necessary to provide information about himself. He did not create several categories and other stuff and consequently his Babel info looks rather red.

Had the Babel extension been available on the Karakalpak Wikipedia, I could add my Babel information as well. As it is, I do not want to burden a project that should concentrate on growing its number of articles.

Providing the functionality of the Babel extension seems obvious. It is used at translatewiki.net and other Wikis.. What does it take for the Wikimedia Foundation to accept it?
Thanks,

There are four open bugzilla requests related to the Babel extension on Wikimedia projects; the first one dates back to May 2008.

These are the things I don't like about WMF and its MediaWiki software development.

I have also been waiting for Babel extension, and also for the extension I made for the Wikimedia Incubator...
I wonder when it will be enabled.

There are two issues that should be solved in the Babel Extension:

1. For about half a dozen Wikipedias, the exension currently cannot automatically generate categories (bug 20119)

2. Although there are messages localized to a language in the Babel extension source, generic texts in the wiki language are shown, when this language is not in the set of languages that the wiki allows as its UI languages. Try for example Westphalian (wep-1) or Grunnegs (gos-1) in translatewiki.net. There is no bug report about it yet.

Despite these current limitations, the extension should be usable on most wikis of the WMF. It would be especially good to have it in the Incubator, or if there is doubt, let it be tried at one of the various test wikis, such as the test Wikipedia, for a while.

Hoi, When nobody localises a message for a language, it will not include a localisation.. Having some standard boiler plate helps. Adding a bug in bugzilla will not really help.
